Senators prospect Nick Paul has opened many eyes after being acquired by Ottawa in the trade which also brought Alex Chiasson and Alex Guptill to the Sens from Dallas. Paul had an impressive showing at Team Canada's World Junior development camp after helping lead the North Bay Battalion to the OHL Final. He talked about his showing in front of Canada's selection group on day one of rookie camp.

"I came in the underdog, people were saying, 'who's this Paul kid? Should he be here?' I knew right off the bat I'd have to leave a big impression," said Paul. "I went in there, put my best foot forward and had a good first game. I had some people talking about me. After the second game people were talking about me and using my name a lot. I think I went in there and left a good impression and hopefully I can get the season going well and make that team."

In 67 games with the Battalion last season, Paul recorded 26 goals and 46 points during the regular season before adding 12 goals and 18 points in 22 playoff games.

After a season in which he centered the trio that became the team's de facto top line for prolonged stretches, attention will shift to Kyle Turris to become the Senators' number one centre in title and play this season.

Injuries during the lockout shortened 2013 campaign gave Turris a taste of what it meant to shoulder the load up front, while instant chemistry with Clarke MacArthur and, later on, Bobby Ryan, gave the team a formidable trio with all three finishing amongst the Sens' top five scorers one season later.

The departure of Jason Spezza will mean there is no doubt as to which centre will steer the ship for the Sens up front. While many "Is Turris Ready?" articles are popping up across the hockey world, both the stats and his career arc seem to confirm that he's already there.

Let's take a look...
