Today was a festive one in the realm of Ottawa Senators hockey and the city of Ottawa as the Sens — led by owner Eugene Melnyk — opened up the "Sens Mile" in downtown Ottawa on Elgin St. At the event, Mr. Melnyk unveiled the Sens new "Fearless" campaign and presented a Sens jersey to a pair of local first responders

After his address, he met with some local media to discuss the season ahead for the hockey club as well as various issues surrounding the franchise.

Here's what he had to say...

Sens 2011 first round pick Matt Puempel will get his first taste of exhibition action tonight when Ottawa takes on the Habs in Montreal. Puempel, as some will recall, was largely limited at this year's rookie tournament after a strong finish to his 2012-13 season in Kitchener and Binghamton as a result of back spasms. He's all clear to play now, however, and will look to make things happen in the Bell Centre.

Here's what Matt had to say...

After being sidelined with an injury for much of training camp, Curtis Lazar makes his Sens pre-season debut tonight in Montreal. The 2013 first round pick was very solid earlier this month in rookie tournament action and now Sens brass and fans will have their first chance to see how he asserts himself against full-fledged professional competition.

Here's what Lazar had to say about tonight's game...

With one pre-season game under his belt thus far, Mika Zibanejad will be looking to build on a strong pre-season debut tonight when he gets the call to face the Montreal Canadiens. Mika will be centering the third line between Colin Greening and Erik Condra, though don't be surprised if he moves around a bit with the team experimenting with him on the wing as part of the top six.

Here's what Mika had to say about tonight's game...
