Another week, another Ottawa Senator to pop by Bell Sensplex and spend an afternoon with the kids at Sens Summer Camps.

Mika Zibanejad did just that on Wednesday and spent some time doing some guest instruction — though, "don't fall down so much" is something you learn on your own — and met with the media between sessions. He covered a whole bunch of stuff during the session so let's dive right in.

Here's what he had to say...

NHL.com have been running their 30 in 30 series for a few weeks now and today just happens to be Ottawa Senators day. Feel free to tell your boss you’re heading home early out of respect for the festivities. We said it’s okay.

There’s no sense spoiling the handful of topics covered by the writers over there, but among the more important ones is who they’ve dubbed Ottawa’s “X-Factor” — Jason Spezza.

Spezza, coming off of a back injury that wiped out most of 2013’s shortened season for him, returns to the Sens lineup as their top offensive catalyst and the premier incumbent name up front. He will not only be relied upon as a top scorer, but also as a figurehead in the dressing room. His talent is beyond dispute as one of the premier centres in the NHL, and now it sounds as though he is welcoming a bigger, brighter spotlight.

From the NHL.com story…

It’s another Monday (weird how these seem to happen once a week) which means we have another chance to reflect on some of the top moments of the 2013-14 season here at Inside the Senate.

Flashback to early April. With the Sens facing a backlog of goaltenders last season, the team opted to make a move at the trade deadline, sending big Ben Bishop to Tampa Bay, thus paving the way for the Craig Anderson/Robin Lehner tandem, which wrapped up the season in goal. Coming back to Ottawa was Cory Conacher who walked on to the roster as the team’s leading scorer after a prolific start to his rookie season.

In just his second game as a Senator, Conacher potted his first goal as a member of the team, a beautiful tic-tac-toe play in conjunction with fellow rookies Mika Zibanejad and Jakob Silfverberg. The Sens couldn’t edge out the Panthers that night, losing 2-1 to a red hot Scott Clemmensen in goal, but Conacher and his fellow freshmen gave us all a goal for the highlight reels.

Two more weeks of summer left (welp) means two more Sens player appearances for Sens Summer Camps campers at Bell Sensplex.

On Thursday, Sensplex announced that the final two player appearances would be none other than Mika Zibanejad, who pops in this Wednesday, and Chris Neil, who stops by the week after that.

There is plenty of encouragement out of Sweden today on the status of Erik Karlsson who is currently taking part in Olympic training festivities with the national program.

In conversation with Swedish reporter Marie Lehmann, Karlsson explained that while he isn’t quite feeling normal in his left leg — a byproduct of having a severed achilles and the corresponding surgery — he is on track to be 100 per cent when the puck drops on the 2013-14 season.
