Sens\' Prospect Brassard caps award filled week

Sens prospect Francois Brassard has had quite a week for himself playing with the Quebec Remparts. Not only was he named the QMJHL's First Star of the Week yesterday, he brought home some national recognition on Tuesday and was named the top goaltender in the CHL.

From the official release:

The Canadian Hockey League today announced that François Brassard of the Quebec Remparts is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending March 10 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and save percentage of .944.

Brassard made 101 saves last week backstopping the Remparts to three straight wins on the road beginning Tuesday night when he stopped 31 shots as part of a 2-1 victory over the second place Baie-Comeau Drakkar. On Friday night he made 37 saves and was named third star of the game in a 5-3 win over the Victoriaville Tigres, then closed the week Sunday receiving first star honours with 33 saves in a 3-2 win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

The win over the Armada was also a personal milestone for Francois...

Sens fans should feel nice and comfortable knowing that one of the team's top goaltending prospects outside the pro ranks can post a .944 save percentage on a whim in one of the most offensively loaded amateur leagues in the country.

For the sake of reference, the Sens themselves have a team save percentage of .943 between Craig Anderson, Ben Bishop and Robin Lehner.

Francois may be odd in that he doesn't seem to be the most superstitious goalie around. Check out what he acquired earlier today...

So much for not changing pads when things are rolling good. Oh well, they look pretty awesome.
