Lundin nearing a return

The Sens may receive some blueline reinforcements in the near future as Mike Lundin took part in a full team practice today without a non-conact sweater.

Lundin sustained a concussion on a hit on March 2, against the Philadelphia Flyers and hasn't been available since the injury occurred. With the team currently carrying six active defencemen, his return will be a welcome addition to the squad.

Here's what he had to say on his status:

On how he feels playing again...

Good. It's good to be back with the team and competing again. Today was my second practice. I practiced the day they left for Montreal two days ago.

On how he handled the symptoms...

With any injury you have your good days and your bad days. You need to take it slow so you don't have a setback.

On how his conditioning is coming along...

It's amazing how when you're at your peak physical condition, cardio-wise and everything, and then taking 10 days of absolutely nothing it feels like you're set back pretty far, but I already feel a lot better than two days ago.

The option to plug Lundin back into the lineup will be a big help to Coach MacLean and his staff. His puck moving and skating ability should aid a team that can generally take advantage of getting the puck headed towards the opposition goal.

The Sens have been one of the better teams in the league at generating attempts towards goal. However, with recent shots against numbers piling up, the ability to get out of their own zone quickly and effectively will be crucial to turning that trend around. Lundin should help aid that when he returns. Having passed his baseline tests, that should be sooner rather than later.
