Sens returning to health
Anyone who follows the Ottawa Senators is sure to be thrilled with only 13 (lucky?) games left in the season as we are inching closer to putting the 2013 season and its incorrigible injury bug squarely in the rearview mirror.
With that end date approaching, the Sens are also seeing the return of several key cogs to the roster equation. Craig Anderson has been actively practicing with the team and Jared Cowen has skated on a handful of occasions. Milan Michalek also started skating earlier today.
The most recent updates from Coach MacLean suggest that there is no rush to have these players back — and really, with the success of the team in spite of their absence it's hard to argue against patience — but it's an exciting thought to wonder what this team could do with a few big names back in the lineup.
Coach noted that Craig Anderson progressed further in practice. There is no set date for his return yet. He will travel with the team.— Ottawa Senators (@NHL_Sens) April 1, 2013

Coach: Jared Cowen "looks good" but is still rehabbing. The team is taking a patient approach with his return. No timetable.— Ottawa Senators (@NHL_Sens) April 1, 2013
Obviously there are few teams with the depth necessary to accomplish what the Sens have without these players, but the thought of adding them to a lineup that has fared well is certainly exciting. Just in that group you have a Vezina candidate, a 35 goal scorer and one of the top young defencemen in the game — pieces anyone would love to add at the trade deadline, let alone pick up for free without giving anything up.
It may be a while before we see it yet, but the chance to see the lineup this team was hoping to ice from the beginning could be creeping up on us and it is a very exciting time.
