The Sens can move one step closer to securing a playoff berth tonight when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes and could put some distance between themselves and ninth place with the Winnipeg Jets also in action.

With yesterday's postponement, the Sens have gone back to the lineup they sported against the Devils last Friday. Matt Kassian was scheduled to check in against a bigger, tougher Bruins team, but instead he will remain a healthy scratch and Guillaume Latendresse will keep his spot in the lineup.

The news of the day, of course, is Jared Cowen's return. He will take Andre Benoit's place along the blueline.

Here's how the Sens will line up to start...

Michalek - Turris - Alfredsson

Conacher - Zibanejad - Silfverberg

Latendresse - Smith - Neil

Greening - Pageau - Condra

Phillips - Methot

Gryba - Cowen

Wiercioch - Gonchar

The Hurricanes arrive in Ottawa sitting 14th in the Eastern Conference with 36 points — four up on Florida. They pack plenty of scoring punch up front, but the Sens should have plenty of opportunity to match them on the scoresheet. The Hurricanes are currently without their two top names on the back end in Joni Pitkanen and Cam Ward.

Here's how the Hurricanes stand to start the game...

Tlusty - E. Staal - Semin

Skinner - J. Staal - LaRose

Ruutu - Nash - Dwyer

Blanchard - Westgarth

Faulk - Gleason

Corvo - Harrison

Sanguinetti - McBain

The Sens are 2-2-2 against the Hurricanes under Paul MacLean. This will be their first time facing Justin Peters.
