Pageau speaks at Sens Summer Camps

J-G Pageau was the most recent Sens player to pop by Sens Summer Camps at the Bell Sensplex today as he did some drillwork and spoke to campers, in addition to spending some time with the media. During his Q&A session he covered his summer, the year that was and looked ahead to training camp.

Afterwards, Sens TV got him for a deeply revealing one-on-one, but more on that in a moment.

Here's what he had to say...

On his summer:

It's been pretty good, I've been working hard every morning here with Chris Schwarz, our strength coach, and I think we have good workouts and it's going pretty good.

On his playoff experience:

I remember all of my playoff and how it went but I don't want to sit back, I really want to focus on next camp. My place isn't assured so I want to be here next year, I've been working hard this summer to claim my spot next year.

On how he can grow:

I want to be more consistent on the ice, be stronger and I want to be quicker. I want to be better in every aspect of my game. My defensive game is always something I have to improve, but I think I want to improve this next year.

On his strength training:

I don't want to gain too much weight and lose my speed but obviously I want to get stronger in my legs, get more explosive and just be more explosive on the ice. Have a better release on my shot and better explosion when I'm skating. That's what we're focusing on this summer.

On being recognized as a Senator:

Yeah I think there are a lot of people recognizing me on the street in Ottawa and Gatineau, just across the river. I appreciate it, it just shows the great support the fans have for me. I'm just happy that they recognize me. It's good motivation this summer to keep working hard and to be ready for next year.

On his success motivating him:

There's a lot of good things that come with playing with the Sens. I want to stay here and play here as long as I can. I don't see any negative points right now so I just want to enjoy all the time that I'm here.

After the scrum, Inside the Senate and Sens TV teamed up for an exclusive interview with JGP where we got to the crux of what makes the man who wears 44 tick. Among the topics covered were golf, fishing and barbecuing. No hockey talk allowed. Deep tracks only.
