Coach MacLean post-practice - 11.14.2013

It was a second consecutive practice day for the Sens ahead of Friday's game with the Boston Bruins. After today's skate, head coach Paul MacLean met with the media as per usual to give his updates and thoughts on the team.

Here's what he had to say...

On Chris Phillips:

He got through the practice alright. In conversations with him I think we're going to make a final decision tomorrow, but it appears likely he'll play.

On tomorrow's starting goaltender:

Tomorrow

On if Lehner's success vs. Boston will play a role:

It's in there yeah, it's in there. The success of how he has played, how both have played, we're giving all the information all of our consideration so, yes.

On Anderson's performance Tuesday:

I think we dress 20 guys every night so every game we play is a reflection on all the players. Whether we win it or we lose it, usually it's a reflection of how everyone has played.

On Condra's status:

I think right now he is more likely for Sunday for me. That's just because he has just gone through two practices and he might need another good practice on Saturday. We're going to make sure he's up and running and ready to go before we get him in there. He could be there tomorrow, I'm not sure — I have to check with Gerry and them today, he got through the practice obviously today again. But I would expect more for Sunday than tomorrow.

On the PK's performance on Tuesday:

We made a bad read in the coverage on the first and on the second they shoot it and it hits somebody. Sometimes they miss and they don't. The first one we could have prevented I think, but we made a bad read on the coverage and the down pass but, for the most part, I thought we — our penalty killing has improved a lot and pressure's a big part of it. They need to continue that.

On if the team is "on the same page" again:

I'm not sure we were on the wrong page. I think our execution wasn't very good, we turned the puck over. That made us play in our own zone and any time you play in your own zone too much it's not a good thing and bad things happen. These last two practices are much like a lot of other practices have been this year as far as breaking pucks out and being in the right spots. We're going to continue to do that until we're better at it. We don't know if we're better at it until we play the game tomorrow, but we certainly expect to be getting better.

On if Tuesday's game would have been different with a different goalie:

When you play like you played Tuesday it doesn't matter who's doing anything. It was a bad effort on all of our parts and tomorrow night we get to come back and do something about it.

On the Bruins:

They've been tough. They do things right and they do it for a long time and they're a team that plays with a lot of structure. We've played, I think, well against them and I think they're a type of team that brings out the best in us. We anticipate that they're going to be a real good test for us coming off of what happened to us the other night. Playing the Bruins I think is a good thing for our emotional level and our intensity level.
