1:45 PM: Paul MacLean met with the media after today's morning skate to discuss the lineup and tonight's matchup with the Red Wings. Here's what he had to say...

On tonight's lineup:

Robin Lehner's the goalie but the rest of the lineup will stay the same.

On the thought process selecting a goalie:

Well we have lots of discussions within the coaching staff, we do some research on everything, but mostly it just comes down to who we feel gives us the best opportunity to win. Right now we're playing back-to-back games on multiple occasions and at this point we feel that if we just alternate the goalies we'll give them both an opportunity to get us some wins.

On earning a win tonight:

I read the other day that they're the most desperate team in hockey they needed a win so bad so it was like, wow, they have lots of wins... I thought that was ours. I think any time you come here to play the Red Wings, no matter how good you're playing or how bad you're playing, it's always a fun night. I think we're looking forward to the opportunity again. We had some success in here last time and all that's going to do is make them a little more prepared for the game and we have to make sure we're ready to play.

On differences in Anderson's game:

No, I think Craig has been fine. There has been a difference in his team's play, our team hasn't played particularly well, and I think that is a reflection on all of us. But, no one has been worse than somebody else by any means and our whole group has continued to work every day to get better.

On playing well against top teams:

Fear is a pretty good motivator, but when you play some of the elite teams in the league it's always a challenge so you want to make sure you're ready for that game and when you play teams that are even with you I guess sometimes we're a little bit more ho-hum about some of those games, but you know if you're not ready to play here tonight it could get ugly pretty quick.

On moving on without Alfredsson:

We've adjusted just fine, we all have tons of respect for Alfie and the stuff he did in Ottawa, but he's not here. We don't have any concern about him and we're moving along just fine.

On his assessment of the Red Wings:

I have no idea, I have a hard enough time assessing my own team. I'm coaching my own team, Babs can coach his team.

On Nyquist:

I saw it on tape, he's a good player. Good skill, great quickness, obviously was a factor in the game the other night.

11:45 AM: The Sens have been working through the morning at the Joe...

9:15 AM: The Ottawa Senators will be trying to build on Wednesday's solid performance and earn two points this time out tonight when they take on the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

The Sens came up short against Minnesota despite outshooting, outchancing and outhitting the Wild over three periods. They'll have plenty to draw from when trying to figure out how to beat the Red Wings this time around after a 6-1 in the Motor City on October 23.

The Red Wings have been reeling to a degree since the last time these two met as they recently snapped a seven game losing streak and are 3-2-5 in their last 10 games. In 13 home games to this point in the season the Red Wings have a 4-3-6 record. For those wondering, former Sens captain Daniel Alfredsson isn't expected to suit up tonight as he is currently nursing a groin injury.

The Sens will have their skate this morning as part of team prep prior to the 7:00 PM puck drop and I'll have plenty of updates to follow including, but not limited to, lineup changes, players' thoughts on tonight's game, Sens TV updates, Instagram goodness and more.

Stay tuned!
