Sens recall Hoffman; re-assign Borowiecki, Grant
The Ottawa Senators have done some AHL shuffling on Monday as the team announced the recall of centre Mike Hoffman from Binghamton and the re-assignment of defender Mark Borowiecki and centre Derek Grant to the American League.
Hoffman had recently been named captain of the Binghamton Senators — assuming the role from Borowiecki who has been in Ottawa — and has been the top scorer for the B-Sens this season.
From the official release...
Hoffman, 24, has recorded team-highs of 11 goals and 15 assists in 21 games for Binghamton this season. His 26 points see him rank second among all AHL players in scoring. Hoffman has been held pointless in four career National Hockey League contests, including three during the 2012-13 regular season.
Originally selected by Ottawa in the fifth round (130th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft, Hoffman has recorded 128 points (52 goals, 76 assists) and 108 penalty minutes over 212 career AHL games, all of which have been with Binghamton.
In 13 games with the big club this season, Borowiecki had recorded a goal and 48 penalty minutes from the back end, while Grant had a pair of assists in 20 games.
Hoffman will potentially make his season debut on Tuesday when the Sens return to action and face the Florida Panthers at 7:30 PM in Florida.
