The Sens came out on the wrong side of a 5-2 loss on Saturday afternoon to the LA Kings despite bringing the game back to 3-2 after a tough start in the first period. Paul MacLean offered his thoughts after the game.

Here's what he had to say...

On today's loss:

Bad start. We didn't get saves early and that team that we played is a very good team. They play a certain way, the play that way the whole game and they make it difficult for you and they certainly did that tonight. I thought we got it back to 3-2, we were starting to come on and have some opportunity in their end of the rink and we have a misread in the neutral zone and the game is over.

On the compete level:

I thought our competition level overall in the whole game wasn't nearly as high as theirs. That's obviously a big difference between the two teams. One of them is an experienced team that has won the Stanley Cup and everybody plays the same way, their competition level is high, they're an experienced team and I thought they showed us the difference in competition levels of the two teams.

On pulling Anderson:

We have tons of confidence in Craig Anderson he just didn't have a good start to the game.

On the bad starts in afternoons:

I've been struggling for one (an explanation), I think every 2 o'clock game we've struggled for one reason or another whether it's defensively, offensively or the goaltender we've always found a way to not be ready to play and not get off to a good start and we might have to consider re-scheduling those start times for next year.

On matching up the Pageau line vs. Kopitar:

Not (worried) at all (about the matchup), we started Pageau the previous night. No concern about it at all.
