The Czechs are off to the quarter-finals, Sweden awaits Slovenia and Canada prepares to take on the Latvians. Here is today's Olympic rundown...
Erik Karlsson — Team Sweden had the day off on Tuesday as they awaited the winner of Slovenia and Austria. Karlsson will take on Anze Kopitar and the Slovenians at 3 AM Eastern on Wednesday. In the meantime, EK got some big time press attention courtesy of the New York TImes which looked at his switch to safer socks after his injury last season.
Milan Michalek — Michalek helped lead the Czech Republic to a 5-3 victory over rival Slovakia on Tuesday, ensuring their place in a quarter-final game against the United States on Wednesday. Michalek played heavy minutes in all situations for the Czechs and played a role in the creation of two of their goals in the win.
Team Canada — The Canadians had the day off on Tuesday with the qualifying matches taking place. A surprise win from the Latvians over Switzerland has set the matchup for Wednesday's quarter-final as former Senators forward Kaspars Daugavins and co. will take on Team Canada at 12 noon Eastern.
