Sens Olympic Notes: February 23, 2014

Canada are your Olympic champions while King Karl rules the world's defencemen. Here is your final Olympic rundown...

Erik Karlsson — It wasn't the result he was looking for in the gold medal game but the 2014 Olympics will go down as a career exclamation point nonetheless. Not only did Karlsson take home a silver medal for the Swedes, he was named to the all-tournament team and also earned "Best Defenceman" honours as well. He finished in a tie with Phil Kessel for the Olympic scoring lead with eight points.

Team Canada — The Canadians were the dominant team from the outset and put a gold medal around one of the most impressive Olympic campaigns of all time.

Goals from Jonathan Toews, Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz — one in each period — were the offence the Canadians needed in front of Carey Price who turned aside 24 shots to earn another shutout for the gold medal win.

Canada conceded just three goals all tournament long and become the first undefeated Olympic champions since the Soviet Union team of 1984.
