Milan Michalek talks Olympics, trade deadline and more
Milan Michalek returned to the ice for the Sens today for the first time since arriving back in Ottawa from the Sochi Olympics. He talked about his time at the games, the trade deadline ahead and more.
Here's what he had to say...
On being back in Ottawa:
It feels good, I got back Friday night and got some rest and tried to get the time difference right. Now everything is good.
On his time in Sochi:
It was good, everything was great, the setup was great. A lot of people were scared of it but everything was very nice.
On taking the experience forward:
It was just a great experience overall. Playing against the best players in the world in some tough games and being in the Olympic village with all of the athletes and being able to talk to them was fun.
On the effect of the time difference and travel:
I think I feel good now, I got back three or four days ago so I feel good now. It has been tough with the time difference though, having trouble sleeping a bit... Hopefully it (the trip to Vancouver) will be good but it's going to be tough.
On if he saw other sports in Sochi:
There wasn't much time but I went to see speedskating. That was the only thing we saw.
On the trade deadline:
You think about it, especially since I'm not having a really good season. If it happens it happens, there's nothing I can do about it. I'm just trying to do my best here, I like it here in Ottawa and obviously I want to stay here but if a trade happens it happens.
On if his agent has talked with management at all:
Not a lot so far I don't think but we'll see. The trade deadline is getting close so we'll see.
On what he likes about Ottawa:
I love the city, I love the fans — they're great here too. It has been great here, we'll see what happens.
