It's that magical day of year that fans look forward to, players can't wait to get past and television producers everywhere dread... Trade Deadline day! Follow along as we keep track of any and all things Sens on this day as well as anything pertinent to the playoff push as it stands.

I'll keep you updated as it happens below, and you can follow along in this space all day long.

6:00 PM: The Sens announced one final trade prior to the NHL's trade freeze on Wednesday as the team has sent Andre Petersson to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Alex Grant.

In two NHL games this season for the Ducks, Grant has a pair of goals. He will report to Binghamton.

4:45 PM: Sens GM Bryan Murray offered his update from the organization after today's deadline passed. Here's what he had to say...

1:45 PM: Here's a sample of what Ales Hemsky had to say in his last scrum with Edmonton reporters on Wednesday.

On the trade:

It's a weird feeling, especially since I've been here for so long, I have a lot of great memories. When it comes to the end it's a weird feeling but I'm excited for a new challenge and to play different hockey.

On if he expected to go to Ottawa:

I guess there was a few teams in the mix and I guess Ottawa wanted me and they made the trade for me. I'm happy for that and hopefully I can help them make the playoffs.

On if he slept with trade rumours swirling:

I slept pretty well. I knew what would happen, I knew I would get traded. I was kind of prepared for that for the last four months so it wasn't a surprise for me.

On if he was assured he would be traded:

After the summer pretty much they told me straight up they would trade me. I didn't get traded but I was expecting I would get traded and you kind of talk about it. It wasn't for sure but we didn't talk about contracts or anything so I figured I would get traded.

On if it was time to leave:

Yeah, I think so. It wasn't about the city or the team. I really like the city, I love the guys over here and I like the organization. It's just more the personal. I need a change. It's a good challenge for me, I've been here for so long in this situation so I'm happy for the challenge.

On how he wants to be remembered in Edmonton:

I don't know, you'd have to ask them how they'll remember me, but I've been here for 12 years. I tried to do everything I could to help the organization and, like I said, I really appreciate what the people and the city have done for me. Everybody treated me really nice, I met so many nice people and I pretty much grew up here. I can't appreciate enough the city of Edmonton and this organization.

On his emotions:

It's a mix of feelings. It's hard to leave here because I was here for so long and I was really comfortable here. I knew the city and the team and everything. It's the only team I've been playing for it's weird but like I said, I'm ready for the challenge.

On his sendoff last night:

That was nice, it worked pretty well the last game to have it like that, to hear the people like that and I talked to a lot of people. Like I said, they treated me really well and I have a lot of respect for the city.

On his goodbye:

I was on the phone a lot. They were on for practice so I didn't see them too much, just a couple of guys. It's sad because some guys have been here for a long and I met a lot of great people here.

On joining Ottawa:

I've got to go play tonight so after I'm done here I'll go home, pick up a suit and drive to Calgary to play the game. I think I can go back after the game and pack some stuff. I think they play Saturday in Winnipeg so I can meet them on Friday.

Oilers TV has Hemsky's full scrum available to watch here:

1:15 PM: Chris Phillips reacts to his two-year contract extension in this Sens TV exclusive.

Take a look...

1:10 PM:More news! The Ottawa Senators have acquired Ales Hemsky from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a pair of draft picks. (third round pick in 2015, fifth round pick in 2014).

More to follow...

12:00 PM: Two transactions to announce it Sens land at the noon hour.

First up...

Leaving the team, however, is forward Cory Conacher who was claimed by the Buffalo Sabres off of waivers today. Joe Corvo, who was also placed on the waiver wire, was not claimed.

11:20 AM: We appear to have our first big deal of the day on the board as Martin St-Louis has been sent to the New York Rangers in exchange for Ryan Callahan and a pair of draft picks (first and second rounders).

Dominoes!

11:00 AM: As it stands, no trades have gone through on Deadline Day after a busy Trade Deadline Eve. It sounds as though there are some big name chips ready to fall onto the table, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
