Mark Stone post-practice - 03.27.2014
With news that Bobby Ryan will not return this season, it appears that Mark Stone, who has replaced Ryan on a line with Kyle Turris and Clarke MacArthur, will finish up the year in Ottawa and look to get the ball rolling towards a full-time spot with the club next season.
Here's what Mark had to say about the opportunity in front of him...
On injuries providing an audition for him:
There's still lots of hockey to be played. There are 10 games and I want to make an impression to stay up here, continue to play consistent hockey and stay up here for those 10 games and hopefully put in a good audition for next year.
On the games as an opportunity to prove himself:
Yeah it is, it's always an audition when you come up here no matter the circumstances. I'm excited to be here, to play hockey at this level. Obviously the first two games went pretty well and I'm playing with good linemates as well.
On if he was told he'd finish the season:
No I'm just taking it day by day. Obviously with the way things have been going around here we're looking to get things going up and I'm just looking to help this team win hockey games.
On increased confidence this time around:
I'm obviously excited to be playing with two top end players. My last time up I was playing with Spezza. Every time I'm up here I seem to be put into a good spot to succeed. Right now I'm just trying to take things day by day and just try and get better.
