Coach MacLean post-game - 4.4.2014

The Senators got off to a great start on Friday night but ultimately couldn't keep up the offensive pace over 60 minutes as they fell by a 7-4 score to the Montreal Canadiens. Sens head coach Paul MacLean offered his thoughts after the loss.

Here's what he had to say...

On his feelings after the loss:

I have none. I'm numb.

On building the lead and allowing Montreal back in:

I think we played, we came out and played, got the lead to 3-0 and stopped playing. We just stopped playing. We stopped doing the things that made us successful. We started giving them short rinks and all the regular adjectives we've used all year long. They didn't make any mistakes.

On if the performance was frustrating:

No, it's brutal. We're at home and we stopped playing. It's not right.

On if he had a message for the players after the game:

Not directly after, no.

On keeping Anderson in:

I just felt that under the circumstances it was the right thing to do.

On the disallowed goal:

Is it a significant occurrence in the game? Absolutely. I thought the one on their fourth goal was interesting but it was insignificant.

On the game as a microcosm of the season:

I would say. If anything can go wrong it does. It makes a significant difference when one goalie gets bumped and a goal is scored and another goalie isn't bumped and a goal is disallowed. I thought video was supposed to get it right. I'm wrong I guess with that.

On Hemsky leaving the game:

He got bumped and sustained an upper body thing so we had to do it just to be careful with him.
