Sens prospect Ben Harpur went on air with TSN 1200 on Thursday to talk about heading to the Memorial Cup with the Guelph Storm.

Here's what he had to say...

On facing Curtis Lazar right away:

It'll be a lot of fun for sure. Spending the summer up in Ottawa with him at Development Camp and the main camp, I sent him a text before game seven and said good luck and hopefully see you in London later this week.

On his season:

It was a great year right from the day I was drafted. Guelph, it was all building up to this year, this was supposed to be our year where we were going to make a run for it and everything fell into place. We built a great team here through the draft and through trades. We had a great playoff and it was great to win a championship.

On playing for Scott Walker:

It's great, obviously he had a long career in the NHL and he knows what it takes to make it there and to stay there. He ingrained in us a culture within our team that we don't accept anything less than losing. It rubs off on everyone and I think that's part of why we were so successful.

On taking on London:

It's a huge rivalry. We beat them in the second round this year and there's a lot of talk of how they didn't how their full lineup and stuff. They're eager to ice their full lineup and we're even more eager to have a shot to quiet people down and show we can beat them with their full roster too... It's huge, they've won the league the past two years. One of our big goals this year was to knock off London and how we play them, it's hard fought battles and fights, all that stuff. For both of us to be playing for the Memorial Cup, it'll be a lot of fun.

On the boost of acquiring players at the deadline:

It's great, we had a great team to begin here and it only got better through trades. I remember on trade deadline day there was a lot of buzz around the room with us bringing in Rychel and Ebert and I think it really showed that management was all in this year and the guys were really excited.

On what the Sens told him to work on:

They just talked about my foot speed, working on my skating, that's going to be big for me being a big guy, and just going back to Guelph and playing a big role in what, at the time, was hoping to be a championship run and I think I've done that so far.

On his play this year:

I thought I had a solid year. When we made trades for Trojanovic and Ebert, they're more offensive guys so that allowed me to take on my role on the team as the penalty kill guy, the shut down guy, which I think will be the role that I'll be playing.
