Hasek inducted to Hockey Hall of Fame

Former Ottawa Senators goaltender and six-time Vezina Trophy winner Dominik Hasek was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday.

Hasek, who retired from the NHL in 2008, was arguably the top goaltender of his era and earned the "Dominator" moniker which he carried throughout his career. In addition to his six Vezinas, he was a two-time Hart Trophy winner, a two-time Lester B. Pearson Award winner, a two-time Stanley Cup champion and a six-time NHL First Team All-Star. He also captured a gold medal at the 1998 Olympics.

During his time in Ottawa, Hasek played 43 games for the Sens, posting a 28-10-4 record, 2.09 GAA and .925 save percentage. He also recorded five shutouts over the course of the 2005-06 season.

Other players to join Hasek in the Hall of Fame this year will be Rob Blake, Peter Forsberg and Mike Modano. Former coach Pat Burns as well as former referee Bill McCreary will enter the Hall as Builders.

The 2014 Induction Ceremony will take place on Monday, November 17.
