Senators sign Vincent Dunn to entry-level deal

The Senators announced on Wednesday afternoon that the club has signed Vincent Dunn to a three-year entry-level contract.

Dunn, a fifth round selection of the Senators in 2013, was traded to the Rimouski Océanic this summer after playing his 2013-14 season with the nearby Gatineau Olympiques. At the conclusion of Gatineau's playoff run, he made his professional debut with the Binghamton Senators.

A native of Gatineau, Que., Dunn completed his third season of major junior hockey and his first with his hometown Gatineau Olympiques (QMJHL) in 2013-14 registering new career highs in goals (31) and penalty minutes (156). Dunn ranked second among Olympiques in goals, while finishing third in team scoring with 51 points.

Dunn, 18, registered the first four-goal game of his major junior career in a 7-1 Olympiques’ home win over Sherbrooke on March 14, which saw him reach 30 goals for the first time. He skated in each of Gatineau’s nine playoff games, establishing a new major junior career high with nine points (three goals, six assists) in the post-season.

Following Gatineau’s 4-1 series loss to Halifax in the QMJHL quarter-finals, Dunn signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Senators’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, and made his professional debut in a 4-2 B-Sens home win over Norfolk on April 19.

Drafted in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Dunn has recorded 116 points (61 goals, 55 assists) and 348 penalty minutes in 159 major junior career games with the Val-d’Or Foreurs and Gatineau. He was traded by the Olympiques to the Rimouski Océanic on May 30.

Fans can expect to see Dunn in action with the Senators next when they head to London, Ont. for the annual Rookie Tournament a Budweiser Gardens which will run from Sept. 13-15.
