From boyhood dream to making the team
Growing up in Winchester, Matt Carkner knew everyone in town—and they all shared a love of hockey. “My dream of playing in the NHL began as a kid,” he says. “And I kept that dream alive, even though it took me eight years to get here.” But Matt has never forgotten his roots, and works to inspire kids like him. “We have a special gift, and we should share that,” he says. “You get back so much more than you give.”
