Ryan reacted to the trade on Twitter with what may be the single greatest trade reaction tweet of all-time.
Ottawa.... Im coming in hot— Bobby Ryan (@b_ryan9) July 5, 2013
There’s not much you can say about Bobby Ryan beyond the fact that the Sens have picked up a legitimate first line player. In his four full NHL seasons Ryan has passed the 30 goal plateau each time, posting seasons of 31, 35, 34 and 31 goals respectively, despite being relegated to second-fiddle duty at times behind the likes of Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne.
At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Ryan is a big body that can get up and down the ice, handle the puck, create plays and scores goals. Over the course of the 2013 season with the Ducks, Ryan put up 11 goals and 19 assists in 46 games before adding another two goals and two assists in seven playoff games.
Also, he is capable of this:
Obviously Silfverberg and Noesen look like they have the potential to be very good NHL players and who that first rounder becomes remains to be seen, but to get a player of this calibre you need to give up assets. The Sens did just that and received an elite NHLer in turn.
