Ever wonder what a day at an NHL development camp is like for a prospect? Here's your chance to get a better look. The Sens run a jam-paced development camp for their prospects each summer with opportunities to take in various seminars on topics ranging from nutrition to sports psychology, workout sessions led by Chris Schwarz and his strength and conditioning team, talks from the NHL coaching staff and management, as well as on-ice sessions to grow their game and team building events that are a little more light-hearted.
In sum, it's a week loaded with events that give a player the chance to add to his toolbox while on the path to what is ideally a career in the NHL. While there are many different nuances in between the teams who run camps across the NHL, Ottawa's is designed to teach prospects how to be professionals.
To give you a look at a day in the life of Senators Development Camp, Sens TV took a day to follow 2013 first round pick Curtis Lazar from event to event. In part one of this series, you get a look at a morning at dev camp, complete with a nutrition seminar at breakfast, talk from Senators head coach Paul MacLean and off-ice workout at Canadian Tire Centre.
