Ottawa Senators
OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators announced today Ron Low has been named assistant coach and Eli Wilson has been added as goaltending coach for the 2007-08 season. The pair will work alongside newly named head coach John Paddock, assistant coach Greg Carvel, strength and conditioning coach Randy Lee and video coach Tim Pattyson.

Low, 57, is entering his fourth season with the Senators organization, having served his first three years as goaltending coach and pro scout.

Low has more than 30 years of professional hockey experience as both a coach and player. The native of Birtle, Man., played 11 NHL seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, Quebec Nordiques, Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils as a goaltender.

Prior to joining the Senators, Low spent two seasons as a pro scout with the New York Rangers after head-coaching stints with the Rangers and Edmonton. He was also a member of the 1990 Stanley Cup-champion Oilers as an assistant coach after holding head-coaching positions with Cape Breton in the American Hockey League and Houston in the International Hockey League.

Wilson joins his first NHL club and will work with the Senators’ goalies in both the professional and amateur ranks. The 30-year-old joins Ottawa, having most recently worked with the Western Hockey League’s Medicine Hat Tigers for the last four seasons while also owning and operating his own company, World Pro Goaltending.

In his four-year tenure with Medicine Hat, Wilson’s goaltenders won two WHL championships and captured two playoff MVPs in the process.

Running western Canada’s largest goalie training centre, Wilson has trained a number of NHL goalies and prospects, including Senators netminder Ray Emery and 2004 draftee Jeff Glass. His school provides 7,000 private one-on-one goalie training sessions per year while his camps have visited such places as Prince George, B.C., Detroit, Ottawa, and most recently South Korea.

In addition to his efforts with Emery and Glass, Wilson has also coached and helped develop the likes of world junior gold medalist Carey Price, who was named 2006-07 Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the year as a member of the WHL’s Tri-City Americans, and the American Hockey League playoff MVP with the Hamilton Bulldogs.

In other staffing news, the Senators announced Mike Busniuk will return in his role as assistant coach with their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Busniuk returns for his fifth season and will work alongside new head coach Cory Clouston.
