OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators today announced the roster (PDF) for the 2008-09 training camp being held at Scotiabank Place and the Bell Sensplex from Tuesday, Sept. 16, to Sunday, Sept. 28. The Senators then travel to Gothenburg, Sweden, until the completion of camp on Thursday, Oct. 2. The 17-day training camp includes six pre-season games, 13 days in Ottawa and four days in Sweden as part of the NHL Premiere 2008. The regular-season opener is on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Stockholm against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Players report for medicals and physical fitness testing at Scotiabank Place today and then move to on-ice sessions at Scotiabank Place on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Senators training camp roster includes six goaltenders, 18 defencemen and 30 forwards.

The list of camp invitees is built primarily around the Senators’ draft. Twenty-two were selected by Ottawa in NHL entry drafts, five were obtained in trades, 16 signed as free agents signings and 11 are on professional try-out agreements. Twenty-two players lined up for at least one game with the Senators during the 2007-08 season, while another eight suited up with other NHL squads. Nineteen also participated in the rookie camp and tournament in Kitchener, Ont.
