Fans camp out for Sens
For Angie Coulombe and Debbie Fedy, the waiting was the hardest part.

The two Kanata women camped out overnight in front of Scotiabank Place, eager to get their hands on Senators tickets for home games in October and November.

It was mission accomplished for the duo when the doors finally opened at 10 a.m. today, and they were the first to be escorted to the ticket windows at the arena box office.

Debbie Fedy (left) and Angie Coulombe of Kanata were first in line to purchase October-November tickets at Scotiabank Place on Saturday morning
“We came out at midnight,” said an excited Coulombe. “We brought a lawn chair, some blankets … we’re huge hockey fans and we wanted to make sure we got our Toronto tickets for opening night (on Oct. 4).”

So how did they pass the time?

“We chatted, we slept, we talked on the phone a bit,” said Coulombe.

Added Fedy: “It was all right. We slept a bit on the lawn chair. It’s exciting. We’re both single mothers, so to be able to take our sons out to more than one or two games, it’s good to get Coca-Cola Zone (tickets, which are hot sellers for families).”

Coulombe said this was no spur-of-the-moment mission.

“We’ve been planning this,” she said. “We’ve been waiting to find out when the tickets would go on sale. We knew we were going to come out. We wanted to be first in line.”

In the end, the wait was well worth it. Coulombe held up tickets for five games, all of them marquee attractions.

“We want to see Sidney Crosby, so we got a Pittsburgh game,” she said. “We got Montreal, a Buffalo game, two Toronto games.”

The excitement also bubbled over at Sensations, where the team’s new Rbk Edge jerseys officially went on sale. The jerseys are being sold exclusively at the club’s official store at Scotiabank Place through Sept. 20.

Yesterday, former Senators goaltender Ron Tugnutt was among several team alumni on hand at Sensations to sign autographs and meet and greet fans, along with former NHLer Fred Bartlett.
