It’s a big-league organization that hasn’t forgotten its roots in Hockey Country.
The Ottawa Senators announced Friday their latest minor hockey initiatives, with an in-depth series of events planned to highlight teams, coaches, players, associations and volunteers during Minor Hockey Week from Nov. 3 to 10. The program was designed with input from the Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association, Ottawa District Women’s Hockey Association and Hockey Outaouais.
All four Senators home games that week will include a special minor hockey theme. A drive is also under way to create a Hockey Country jersey wall along the 100-level concourse at Scotiabank Place, featuring 145 jerseys from every minor hockey association, high school and junior-level team in the community.
“It’s a great way to say that we support hockey at a grassroots level,” said Senators and Scotiabank Place COO Cyril Leeder.
