Looking for balanced offence
The Senators were back on the practice ice today at Scotiabank Place for a 45-minute session. In speaking with the media after practice, assistant coach Greg Carvel spoke about the need for creating balance between all the lines to make up for the absence of left-winger Dany Heatley.

Carvel, in the audio attached, also addressed Ilya Zubov’s contribution in his first NHL game last night and the return of Patrick Eaves to the line-up.

There was no announcement made on the starting goaltender for the game against the Carolina Hurricanes at Scotiabank Place on Thursday (7:30 p.m., Rogers Sportsnet, The TEAM 1200 Radio).

Ottawa Dragon Boat Race Festival making changes

Mike Fisher and Chris Phillips join the Ottawa Dragon Boat Race Festival organizers following the news conference.
Mike Fisher, Chris Phillips and the Sens Foundation joined the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation in a news conference today announcing some major changes for the 2008 Ottawa Dragon Boat Race Festival.

They welcomed Scotiabank on board as a new sponsor with its 2008 goal of raising $1.5 million.

Fisher, honorary chair of the event, noted that the 2007 event was the most successful to date. With more than 5,000 paddlers and 65,000 proceeds topped $230,000 for local charities, including Sens Foundation/Roger’s House, Centretown Laundry Co-op, Special Olympics Ontario Ottawa District and Junior Achievement of Eastern Ontario.
