Alfredsson out, Gerber in against the Flyers
Senators team captain Daniel Alfredsson sits out his second consecutive game with a hip-flexor injury, but goaltender Martin Gerber returns to the starting role when Ottawa faces the Flyers tonight in Philadelphia (7 p.m., A-Channel, The TEAM 1200 Radio).

“I skated 10-15 minutes (this morning),” said Alfredsson (audio file, mp3). “It felt OK. Not kind of what I expected. I can go 60-70 per cent no problem – just that little push that’s still not there. I’m not going to play tonight (against Philadelphia). Tuesday (against the Florida Panthers) I think I’ll be ready.”

Head coach John Paddock talked to the media about what it takes to win these games without key forwards Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson (audio file, mp3). Paddock also talked about line combinations (audio file).
