Senators look to regroup in Florida

Senators head coach John Paddock hasn’t been happy with the team’s performance over the last the two games. After being shut out 2-0 on Saturday night by the Tampa Bay Lightning and suffering a 6-1 loss to the Flyers in Philadelphia Sunday night, the Senators travel to Florida for games against the Panthers on Tuesday and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.

“I think that was sort of a deceiving game. The Flyers only had 21 shots, but were in control of the game and the play for basically all the time,” said Paddock after the Sunday loss (full audio – mp3 file). “We didn’t have a lot of good players. I’m disappointed... (in) individuals who aren’t taking advantage of stepping up.”

The players and coaches will take their minds off their 1-4-0 record over the last five games for today with a visit to owner Eugene Melynk’s farm in Ocala, Fla.

Looking to the game on Tuesday in Sunrise, Paddock said that Ray Emery would get the start against the Panthers. He also hopes to get team captain Daniel Alfredsson back in the line-up. Alfredsson missed the last two games with a hip-flexor injury and will likely wait until after the morning skate on Tuesday to confirm he'll play.

“We’re going to have a couple of meetings. With the leadership group, the team, a couple of individuals. Just a little bit of soul searching on how hard you want to play the game,” noted Paddock in speaking with the media this morning (audio – mp3).
