CBC, TSN unveil national Sens dates
false
From Stockholm to Toronto, the Ottawa Senators will receive national television exposure from the first day of the 2008-09 season to the last.

CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada and TSN will combine to show 24 Sens games to coast-to-coast audiences in the season ahead. The two Canadian networks released their full national schedules earlier today, along with NBC and Versus south of the border.

The Senators and CBC join forces for a combined first on Oct. 4 and 5, with the inaugural regular-season action for both in Sweden. Ottawa meets the Pittsburgh Penguins in Stockholm as part of the NHL Premiere series and both games are set for 2:30 p.m. broadcasts on Hockey Night in Canada.

The other two Senators-Penguins matchups this season – Dec. 6 at Scotiabank Place and March 14 at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh – are also on the HNIC schedule, both of them afternoon affairs.

Another nine Senators games are set for national telecasts on CBC. Included is a 3 p.m. matinee Nov. 22 at Scotiabank Place against the New York Rangers – part of a new Original Six Saturday on HNIC – and a Feb. 21 afternoon visit to Montreal for Hockey Day In Canada.

All three of the Sens’ visits to Toronto (Oct. 25, Jan. 3 and the April 11 season finale) get CBC airtime, along with the Leafs’ visit to Ottawa on Feb. 28. The remainder of Ottawa’s national HNIC schedule: Dec. 27 at Calgary; Jan. 17 vs. Montreal and March 29 at Tampa Bay, a Sunday night.

Yet to be announced are any CBC regional dates for the Senators.

TSN, meanwhile, has bumped its complement of Sens telecasts up to 10 games for 2008-09.
That total doesn’t include the Sept. 27 pre-season game at Scotiabank Place against the Canadiens, one of six pre-season tilts TSN will air this season (one for each Canadian team).

The network’s regular-season slate of Senators telecasts includes home games against Florida (Oct. 22), Atlanta (Dec. 3), Washington (Jan. 20), Boston (Feb. 5) and Tampa Bay (March 11) and road matchups with Montreal (Nov. 11), New Jersey (Jan. 4), Atlanta (Jan. 14), Buffalo (Feb. 11) and Nashville (Feb. 16).

Details of the Senators’ 40-game regional schedule on Rogers Sportsnet and Sens TV pay-per-view telecasts will be announced at a later date.
