Coyotes visit launches Sportsnet schedule
40-game slate gives Senators 64 broadcast dates so far for 2008-09 season
Rogers Sportsnet announced today the 40-game Senators broadcast schedule it will present to its East Region audience in 2008-09 – an expanded territory that now stretches west to the Peterborough area and into northern Ontario.
It’s a schedule that includes 10 dates against the other five Canadian teams and 11 meetings with the Senators’ Northeast Division rivals. The majority of the games air on Tuesdays and Thursdays (14 apiece), with another six slated for Fridays, four on Mondays and two on Sundays.
It all begins with a pair of Friday nighters at Scotiabank Place: Oct. 17 against head coach Wayne Gretzky and the Phoenix Coyotes, and Oct. 24 versus the Anaheim Ducks in a rematch of the 2007 Stanley Cup final.
Details about the on-air talent for Sportsnet’s games will be announced at a later date.
With the Sportsnet East schedule now in place, the Senators broadcast slate is at 64 games, including national dates announced earlier by CBC (13), TSN (10) and RDS (1). That leaves 18 games currently off the broadcast schedule: 13 on Saturdays, two Wednesdays and one Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
Yet to be announced by the CBC are Hockey Night in Canada’s regional dates.
