KITCHENER – The Ottawa Senators roared back from an early 2-0 deficit to dump the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-5 in their rookie tournament matchup Sunday night.

Sens prospects are now a perfect 2-0-0 in the event heading into Monday's 2 p.m. finale against the Pittsburgh Penguins rookies at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

Jesse Winchester, Ilya Zubov, Alexander Nikulin, Mattias Karlsson and Peter Regin all had two points in the win for Ottawa, which outshot the Leafs 33-22.

Dale Mitchell and Chris DiDomenico had Toronto up 2-0 before the game hit the five-minute mark. But it was all even by the intermission, as Zubov set up Winchester for a power-play goal, then took matters into his own hands to knot the score at 2-2. The Senators only had three shots in the first period but made them count with a pair of goals.

Just 58 seconds into the second period, Jim O'Brien put the Sens ahead to stay by firing a high shot from the faceoff circle past Leafs goaltender Michael Ouzas. Winchester bagged his second power-play goal of the night less than two minutes later, then Karlsson extended the Ottawa lead to 5-2 before the period ended.

Benoit Doucet and Zack Smith, shorthanded into an empty net with 45 seconds remaining, wrapped up the Ottawa scoring. Mitch O'Keefe handled the Senators goaltending duties for the first two periods, then Kevin Desfosses took over in the third.
