Cowick hoping to say Bingo
Senators prospect Corey Cowick, a junior star with his hometown Ottawa 67's last season, is aiming to begin 2009-10 with the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators.
Corey Cowick can't say enough about what the Ottawa 67's have done for his burgeoning hockey career.

"The organization has been great for me and they’ve done so much for my career," said the Ottawa native, who was the Senators' sixth-round pick (160th overall) at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal. "They've done so much for me as a person and as a hockey player."

But with all due respect, Cowick hopes he's playing somewhere else this season. As in Binghamton, N.Y., the home of the Senators' American Hockey League affiliate.

"My goal right now is to be a professional hockey player," said Cowick, a 6-2, 201-pound left-winger.

"Being in Binghamton (in 2009-10), that’s my goal."

Cowick totalled 60 points, including 34 goals, in 68 games with the 67's last season. He compares his style to that of Mike Fisher, the Senators' gritty veteran centre.

"A guy I try to be like and perform like is Mike Fisher," said Cowick. "He works so hard on the ice every night and finishes every check. He’s not afraid to drop the gloves if he has to and chips in with the odd goal, too, which I think is my kind of game as well."
