SENATORS ANNOUNCE TRAINING CAMP ROSTER AND SCHEDULE

49 players set to report Tuesday, Sept. 13

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today announced their roster of 49 players and schedule for the 2005-06 training camp being held at the Corel Centre and Bell Sensplex from Tuesday, Sept. 13 to Sunday, Oct. 2.

Players report for medicals and physical fitness testing at the Corel Centre on Sept. 13, and then move to on-ice sessions at the Corel Centre Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

The Senators training camp includes six goaltenders, 15 defencemen, nine left-wingers, 10 centremen and nine right-wingers. The roster is attached.

The list of camp invitees was built primarily around the Senators' draft. Twenty-three were selected by Ottawa in NHL entry drafts, eight were acquired in trades, with the balance as free agents signings.

Seventeen players lined up for at least one game with the Senators during the 2003-04 season, while another seven suited up with other NHL squads. The Senators rookie camp and tournament, which wrapped up Saturday, produced 12 players for the main camp.

The 10 players from rookie camp who will not participate in the main camp are: Dave Bouchard, who returns to Drummondville (QMJHL); David Desharnais, who goes to Chicoutimi (QMJHL); MacGregor Faulkner, who has been invited to Binghamton Senators (AHL) training camp; Charles Fontaine, who returns to Cape Breton (QMJHL); Andrew Gibbons, who goes to his junior team in Belleville (OHL); Dale Good, who heads offs to Acadia University; Guillaume Labrecque, who returns to Gatineau (QMJHL);  Todd Perry travels to Barrie (OHL); Sean Stefanski, who will attend Lakehead University; and John Wikner, who goes west to Brandon (WHL).
