OTTAWA SENATORS ANNOUNCE LINEUP FOR 3rd ANNUAL TIM HORTONS COACHES CLINIC
Brian Kilrea to address coaching clinic Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Corel Centre

OTTAWA - Hockey Hall of Fame member and Ottawa 67's head coach Brian Kilrea and Senators head coach Bryan Murray will open the 3rd Annual Tim Hortons Coaches Clinic, the Ottawa Senators announced today. The coaches clinic will take place at the Corel Centre Saturday, Oct. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Coaches from across the Ottawa District Hockey Association (ODHA), Ottawa District Women's Hockey Association (ODWHA) and Hockey Outaouais will watch and listen as expert speakers discuss issues surrounding coaching and player skill development.

Over 700 coaches have already registered for the coaches clinic from across Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. For more information, or to register, visit www.ottawasenators.com.

Brian Murray will kick off the day before giving way to Brian Kilrea, who will give the keynote address for the day.

Among the other experts scheduled to speak at the clinic are: Power skating coach, Marc Power, professor of kinesiology at McMaster University and presenter at Hockey Canada's 1999 Open Ice Summit Janet Starkes, Bell Sensplex director of hockey and 1980 Team Canada Olympic hockey player Ron Davidson, Ottawa 67's goaltending coach Tom Dempsey, ODMHA mentor coach Bob Byrnes, Hockey Outaouais mentor coach Claude Dubuc, and hockey researcher and author Jim Parcels.

11:30 a.m. Janet Starkes on ‘How skills develop’
12:05 p.m. Ron Davidson on Skill development activities and mini-games
12:40 p.m. Jim Parcels on ‘The development of elite hockey players through Ontario’s minor hockey system’
1:15 p.m. Tom Dempsey and Charlie McTavish on ‘Goaltending for coaches’
1:45 p.m. Bob Byrnes and Claude Dubuc on ‘Continuing the learning process’

All coaches attending the 3rd Annual Tim Hortons Coaches Clinic will receive a complimentary ticket to an upcoming pre-season or regular season game courtesy of the Senators and Tim Hortons, a coaches handbook, a coaches whistle and a practice planner courtesy of the Ottawa Citizen.
