SENATORS CANCEL EMERGENCY RECALL ON PATRICK EAVES

Eaves scores first goal in fourth NHL game

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators cancelled the emergency recall on right-winger Patrick Eaves following the club's 3-2 loss over the Carolina Hurricanes Monday in Raleigh, N.C. Eaves rejoins the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.

The 21-year-old Eaves played two games during his third call-up of the season, seeing action in Ottawa's 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Oct. 21 and the club's first defeat of the season at the hands of the Hurricanes.

The Fairbault, Minn., native scored his first NHL goal 14 seconds into the game against the Hurricanes goalkeeper Martin Gerber. In four NHL games, he has a goal and an assist. Eaves replaced centre Mike Fisher, sidelined by a left shoulder injury, in each of the four games.

During Eaves' absence, Binghamton lost three games, dropping its record to 0-4-1. The B-Sens next play in Portland against the Pirates on Saturday, Oct. 29.
