Bulletin: Tomas Malec returned to Binghamton (AHL)

Emergency recall cancelled after one game

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators cancelled today the emergency recall on Tomas Malec. The defenceman, who returns to the Binghamton Senators (AHL), played his first game of the season in the 6-3 win over the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Fla., Monday, Dec. 5.

In his début with the Senators, Malec had 14 shifts over 10:08 of time-on-ice along with a team-high plus-3 rating (with Andrej Meszaros). The 24-year-old from Skalica, Slovakia, replaced Zdeno Chara, who was suspended for one game by the NHL for instigating an altercation with Los Angeles Kings defenceman Tim Gleason in Ottawa's 5-1 on Dec. 2.

Playing in all 23 games this season in Binghamton, Malec has seven assists, 22 penalty minutes and a -13 in the plus-minus rating.

The Binghamton Senators are sixth in the East Division with seven wins, 13 losses, two overtime losses and one in a shootout for 17 points. The B-Sens' next game is at home against the Hershey Bears Friday, Dec. 9.
