OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators have recalled left-winger Denis Hamel from the Binghamton Senators on an emergency basis for the club's game against the New York Islanders tonight at the Corel Centre. It is Hamel's second recall of the season.

In 31 games this season with the B-Sens, Hamel has collected a team-leading 20 goals and 42 points. He also leads the club in power-play goals (11) and power-play points (24) and has been held off the scoresheet only twice in Binghamton's 13 games in December. The 28-year-old joins the Senators after scoring a goal in a B-Sens franchise-record six straight games from Dec. 18 to 28 and has 21 points (11-10) overall this month.

Hamel has appeared in two games with Ottawa this season and scored his first career goal with the Senators against the New York Islanders on Nov. 25 (6-2 win). He also skated in Ottawa's 5-3 win at Carolina (Nov. 22).

Earlier this season, Hamel was named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 13. In four games that week, Hamel had five goals and three assists, including one game-winning goal.

The Binghamton Senators are sixth in the East Division with 12 wins, 17 losses, two overtime and shootout losses for 28 points. The B-Sens' next game is tonight (Dec. 30) when they visit Rochester.
