Bulletin: Senators return Martins to Binghamton (AHL)
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today reassigned centre Steve Martins to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
In three games since his emergency call-up on Jan. 3, the 33-year old native of Gatineau, Que. recorded one goal, the Senators' lone tally in a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens Jan. 7. Through games against Washington on Jan. 4, in Boston on Jan. 5 and Montreal, Martins had three shots, was +1 in plus-minus ratings and averaged 6:44 time-on-ice per game.
In 35 games this season with the B-Sens, Martins leads the team with 24 assists and is second in scoring with 38 points (14-24). This was Martin's first recall of the season after being signed as free agent on August 18, 2005.
The Binghamton Senators are fifth in the East Division with 15 wins, 19 losses, two overtime and shootout losses for 34 points. The B-Sens' next game is Friday, Jan. 13 when they host the Springfield Falcons.
