Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson will return home with either a gold or silver medal from the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.
Alfredsson had a goal and an assist as the Swedes earned a berth in Sunday's gold-medal game (8 a.m. ET) after a 7-3 win over the Czech Republic in the semifinals on Friday.
Finland will be Sweden's opponent after they defeated Team Russia 4-0 in the other semifinal.
Anton Volchenkov and the Russians will play for the bronze medal on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Senators continue to skate hard
A group of 11 Ottawa Senators players went through another grueling skate at Scotiabank Place on Friday. After a series of puck-possession, breakout and shooting drills, coach Bryan Murray ended practice by having the players skate hard around the rink.
"It's becoming more like the playoffs now," forward Mike Fisher said afterwards of the way NHL teams will play for the rest of the season. "That's good. It'll be a good test for us."
Patrick Eaves did not practise today because of a chest cold.
