Bulletin: Senators return Malec to Binghamton (AHL)

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators reassigned defenceman Tomas Malec to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

In Malec's second emergency call-up on April 6, the 23-year-old played one game, registering +1 in plus-minus ratings and logging 13:19 minutes ice time in the Senators' 5-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

Malec has appeared in two games with Ottawa this season, registering four penalty minutes. The Skalica, Slovakia, native has played 45 NHL career games, recording two assists and 47 penalty minutes with Ottawa and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Playing in 73 games this season in Binghamton, Malec has one goal, 21 assists, 114 penalty minutes.

Binghamton is fifth in the East Division with 33 wins, 33 losses, four overtime and four shootout losses for 74 points. With six regular-season games remaining, the club is nine points out of a playoff position behind the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The B-Sens' next game is tonight, when they play host to the Tigers.
