For 2005 ninth-overall NHL draft pick Brian Lee, the 2006 development camp offers more than an opportunity to learn training techniques from a knowledgeable staff in Ottawa. The visit also gives him a chance to learn about a city he hopes to play in one day.
"It's exciting to get into Ottawa," the defenceman said in between workouts in the Senators' conditioning room. "I can see what they're doing here. I guess you can say this is the next step for me."
Lee says he has kept in touch with Senators officials since they drafted him last year and has received advice on how to improve his game.
"Now (that he can work with trainers directly) they can show me exactly what to do to improve."
Last year Lee played his first season with the University of North Dakota in the NCAA. He record three goals, 25 points and 44 penalty minutes in 43 games played.
