Bulletin: Senators re-sign Antoine Vermette

OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager John Muckler today announced the re-signing of left-winger Antoine Vermette to a multi-year agreement.
In his second full season with the Senators and in the NHL, Vermette recorded career highs in goals (21) and assists (12). He was one of six teammates to record 20 or more goals and one of five to play in all 82 regular-season games. Vermette, who turns 24 on Thursday, had four game-winning goals on the season and was second in the NHL with six short-handed markers. He also scored his first two playoffs goals during the club's 10 post-season games.
In 139 career games with Ottawa, Vermette has recorded 28 goals, 19 assists, 47 points and 60 penalty minutes. In 14 career NHL playoff games, he has three points (2-1) and eight penalty minutes.
Drafted 55th overall by the Senators in 2000, Vermette's first pro season was with the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators in 2002-03. He played in all 80 games, recording 34 goals and 28 assists for 62 points. The native of St-Agapit, Que., returned to the AHL during the lockout season in 2004-05, contributing 73 points (28-45) over 78 games.
