Bulletin: Senators sign Cory Pecker

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators signed right-winger Cory Pecker to a one-year agreement.

Pecker, 25, started the 2005-06 season with the East Coast Hockey League's (ECHL) Phoenix Roadrunners. After playing 16 games for the Roadrunners, Pecker joined the AHL's San Antonio Rampage on a pro try-out agreement on Nov. 26. He left the Rampage after three games. He returned to Phoenix for two games, then signed a try-out deal with Binghamton on Dec. 15, followed by an AHL contract on Jan. 4. Pecker finished the season with the B-Sens with almost a point-a-game average -- nine goals and 14 assists over 24 games. He was sidelined with an injury to his triceps for most of the last month and half of the season.

The Montreal native spent the majority of his first three pro seasons as a member of the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. He led Cincinnati with 20 goals as a rookie in 2002-03, and finished seventh on the club in scoring with 33 points. In the following two seasons, Pecker saw duties with the AHL's Cincinnati squad, Binghamton Senators and Manitoba Moose.

The sixth round draft choice of the Calgary Flames at the 1999 NHL Entry Draft enjoyed a five-year career in the OHL, capping it off with a league title in 2002 with the Erie Otters. Erie lost in the semi-final at the Memorial Cup to the Victoriaville Tigres, but Pecker was named tournament's all-star team.
