Bulletin: Senators television schedule features 64 games

Club also announces six games moved to 3 p.m. start times

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators Hockey Club announced today their television broadcast schedule for the 2006-07 season, which features 64 televised games, increased coverage on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada and TSN and a return to A-Channel and Rogers Sportsnet as the club's local and regional broadcasters, respectively.

Sportsnet will broadcast 20 games in the Ottawa area (channel 27 on Rogers) and the East Region (Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces) in 2006-07. Sportsnet starts their coverage on Tuesday, Oct. 31 as the Senators visit Saku Koivu and the Montreal Canadiens. Other key match-ups on Sportsnet sees Ottawa face Zdeno Chara and the Boston Bruins on three occasions (Dec. 19, Jan. 9 and March 27); Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins twice (Nov. 10 and March 6); Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals twice (Jan. 16 and 30); the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 28 and Feb. 27; and Martin Havlat and the Chicago Blackhawks on March 4.

The Senators are also back, for a sixth consecutive season, on A-Channel with a 20-game package for the 2006-07 season. The A-Channel schedule opens in Ottawa against the Calgary Flames on October 12, and also features other key Canadian match-ups, including Toronto (Oct. 24 and 26), Vancouver (Jan. 18) and Montreal (Jan. 29 and Feb. 8). Round One playoff rivals the Tampa Bay Lightning will be featured on A-Channel on Nov. 26 and Dec. 21, while Ottawa's game against their Round Two nemesis the Buffalo Sabres will air on Feb. 22. In addition, Sportsnet will simulcast the majority of the 20 A-Channel games in their East region, enabling those outside A-Channel's viewing area to catch their broadcasts.

The Senators 64-game television schedule is rounded out with 18 games on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada while another six are part of The Sports Network's (TSN) national schedule. The Senators broadcast schedule with RDS will be announced at a later date.

To accommodate three CBC national games, the Senators moved three home games to 3 p.m. start times on Dec. 9, Jan. 27 and Feb. 17. Ottawa also moved three other originally-scheduled 2 p.m. games on Jan. 1, 6 and 7 to 3 p.m. in order to provide Senators fans a more consistent start time for afternoon games. In addition to their Hockey Day in Canada game versus the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 13 (2 p.m. start), the Senators will now have a total of seven matinee games in their 41-game regular-season home schedule.
