Bulletin: Ottawa Senators present the 4th annual Tim Hortons coaches clinic
Coaches clinic to take place Saturday, Nov. 4, at Scotiabank Place
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today announced the return of the fourth annual Tim Hortons Coaches Clinic to be held at Scotiabank Place on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Coaches from the Ottawa District Hockey Association (ODHA), Ottawa District Women's Hockey Association (ODWHA) and Hockey Outaouais are invited to take part in this free clinic to hear experts discuss relevant issues surrounding coaching and player skill development. Coaches will also be able to observe the pre-game skates for both the Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes before they square off later that day at Scotiabank Place.
"This year's Tim Hortons Coaches Clinic promises to be another great success and is filled with new ideas and tools for coaches to take away with them and use through out their season," says Senators chief operating officer Cyril Leeder. "The Ottawa Senators Hockey Club has an excellent partnership with Tim Hortons and is proud to help support the development of our local coaches and minor hockey associations throughout our region."
"Tim Hortons of Ottawa is a long-time supporter of over 1,900 Timbits minor hockey players in the Ottawa area. This program provides the foundation for future learning, skill development and, most of all, fun," said Bill Kitchen, a local Tim Hortons storeowner. "Tim Hortons is committed to the development of thousands of coaches across Canada through the NHL teams and coaching clinics offered in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa."
Each coach attending the Tim Hortons Coaches Clinic will receive a Hockey Canada Coaches Club one-year membership, courtesy of Tim Hortons and the Ottawa Senators; a coach's practice planner, courtesy of the Ottawa Citizen; a Tim Hortons Coaches Clinic handbook and a buy-one, get-one-free ticket voucher that may be redeemed for tickets to an upcoming Ottawa Senators home game.
Coaches will also get handouts on goaltending, skating, stickhandling, half-ice practices and many other topics surrounding the game.
Over the last three years, more than 2,300 coaches have participated in the Tim Hortons Coaches Clinic at Scotiabank Place. For more information, testimonials from last year's clinic or to register for this year's clinic, coaches are encouraged to visit the Ottawa Senators website (www.ottawasenators.com).
