Senators look to extend winning streak against Caps

Called up from the AHL's Binghamton Senators on an emergency basis, Danny Bois makes his NHL debut tonight as the Ottawa Senators look to extend their winning streak to a season-high five games against Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.

Last night, Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson suffered a lower-body injury during the third period of a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders in Long Island. He won't play tonight and is listed as day-to-day.

Murray said the Binghamton coaching staff was asked which player would best fit the Senators' needs while Alfredsson is out of the lineup.

"It was a simple question," Murray said. "We need a guy to work hard and who can play a role for us for the short-term, at least. They suggested Danny was playing the best right now."

In 17 games with Binghamton this season, Bois has eight goals, 13 points and 36 penalty minutes. Bois has nine points in his last eight games after missing six contests with a face laceration. Tonight, the 23-year-old will centre a line between Brian McGrattan and Denis Hamel.

With the absence of Alfredsson and alternate captain Wade Redden tonight, Chris Phillips will wear the C and  Mike Fisher and Dany Heatley will act as alternates.

Ray Emery will start in goal for Ottawa. Emery is tied for first in the NHL with a .931 save percentage and is fourth with a 2.08 goals-against average.

The Senators lost to the Capitals 4-3 in overtime in the first of four meetings between the teams this season on Nov. 6.
