Bulletin: Senators Suspend Michal Barinka

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today suspended defenceman Michal Barinka as he left the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Barinka has returned to his native Czech Republic for family reasons. His fiancé's mother has fallen ill.
The Senators suspended Barinka in order to retain his rights, and the club will lift the suspension if he joins a a team in the Czech Republic.
The 22-year-old was acquired in a three-way trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 10, 2006. Chicago's second-round pick in the 2003 draft, Barinka has played in 34 career NHL games with the Blackhawks, recording two assists and 26 penalty minutes. In 17 games with Binghamton this season, Barinka has recorded two assists and 22 penalty minutes.
Binghamton's next game is tonight, when they host the Norfolk Admirals at 7:05 p.m. The Senators are in sixth place in the AHL's East Division with nine wins, 15 losses and three overtime losses for 21 points.
